Sea Through
Care Guide
These pieces live close to the body, the sea, and the street. A little care keeps them that way. Below is the recommended care for our swimwear and bodysuits, grouped by what they're made of. For skirts and bags, where the right care depends on the specific piece, follow the product page and the label. Your exact care is always on the product page and the label sewn into the piece — match to those first.
The short version
- Wash cool and gentle. 30°C, delicate cycle, for most pieces.
- No bleach, ever.
- Skip the tumble dryer for most pieces — reshape and dry flat or hang away from direct heat.
- Turn inside out, and wash dark colours separately.
- Iron low and only if needed.
Swimwear
One-piece swimsuits and swim shorts.
- Machine wash at 30°C, gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron. Do not dry clean.
- Rinse in fresh water after every use in the sea or pool.
- Sunscreen, oils and chlorine break down colour and elasticity over time. Rinse them out soon after wear.
- Don't wring or spin. Press the water out gently, reshape, and lay flat or hang to dry, out of direct sun.
- Avoid sitting on rough surfaces; lay a towel down.
- When trying on, keep the hygiene liner in place.
The cover-up (polyester/elastane): machine wash at 30°C, do not bleach, tumble dry on low or hang to dry, iron low inside out if needed. Professional dry clean safe.
Sea Edit pieces (Gucci, Versace, Brunello Cucinelli, Burberry, Zimmermann, Jacquemus, Eres, Toteme, Ami Paris, Lido, Oseree): follow each maker's own care label first. The swimwear basics above never hurt.
Bodysuits
Compositions vary across the range. The recommended care for your piece is on its product page, matched to its composition. Here is the care by fabric, so you can match the piece in your hands.
- Polyamide and elastane: machine wash 30°C, gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry — hang or lay flat to dry. Do not iron. Do not dry clean.
- Polyester and elastane: machine wash 30°C. Do not bleach. Tumble dry on low, or hang to dry. Iron low inside out if needed. Professional dry clean safe.
- Viscose and elastane: machine wash 30°C, gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry — hang to dry away from direct heat. Iron low inside out if needed. Professional dry clean safe.
- Pure viscose: as above, but iron low while slightly damp, inside out.
- Cotton and polyester: machine wash 40°C. Do not bleach. Tumble dry on low, or hang to dry. Iron medium inside out. Professional dry clean safe.
- Cotton and elastane: machine wash 30°C. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry — hang to dry. Iron medium inside out. Professional dry clean safe.
All bodysuits: do not bleach, turn inside out to wash, and wash dark colours separately. Keep the hygiene liner in place when trying on.
Skirts
The right care for a skirt depends on its fabric, so we don't print one rule for all of them. The recommended care for your skirt is shown on its product page, matched to its composition, with the label sewn into the piece as the final word. Follow those.
Bags
For our leather and suede shoulder bags and our fabric totes, the right care depends on the material and the specific piece. We hold care guidance here rather than guess. For a care question on any bag, email hi@seathrou.com and we'll advise on your piece.
A note on our recommendations
We base these on each piece's fabric composition and standard textile care — not a manufacturer's tested instruction. Always go by the care label sewn into the piece and the composition listed on its product page. When a composition isn't confirmed, we hold the care information rather than guess.
Care and returns
To stay returnable, a piece must be unworn (trying on is fine), unwashed, with all original tags attached, and — on swimwear and bodysuits — the hygiene liner in place. So check the label before the first wash. Full details are on our Returns page.
